Teaching Methods

Approach to Singing

Olga Zhizherina’s Vocal Training is built on years of stage and teaching experience, scientific research, and a personalized approach for each student. Her unique methodology focuses on developing vocal muscles without strictly separating classical and contemporary singing. The foundation is simple: it’s your voice. The method teaches you to master your vocal apparatus, regardless of whether your musical preference leans towards classical or contemporary styles.

In addition to the remarkable achievements of students (many of whom have won awards in competitions and are successful performers).

Outdated Concepts about Singing

Unfortunately, many people still cling to the outdated belief that breath is the most important element in singing. Teachers who themselves do not fully understand how this works impose complex breathing exercises on their dedicated students, hammering home the idea that without proper breathing, you cannot sing. Of course, breathing is important! But paradoxically, many who focus too hard on breathing exercises lose their natural voice, and some never fully recover it.

Singing Is Speech

The truth is, we produce sounds, including speech, by passing air through our vocal cords. But were you ever taught as a child how to breathe properly just to speak? Of course not! The process is entirely natural to our bodies, and there’s no need to worry about it. Singing works the same way.

Have you ever met people who sing beautifully but have never heard of any specific breathing technique or taken singing lessons? The key lies in the muscles of the larynx, the tongue, and facial muscles. These are the tools that shape, support, and free the sound.

When developed correctly, your lungs and diaphragm will provide as much air as your vocal muscles can handle. In learning to sing, by training your vocal muscles, you also naturally develop your breathing muscles. They grow together, in harmony. One cannot exist without the other.

This is the principle Olga uses to teach anyone who has ever wanted to sing but felt shy or unsure about their voice. And usually, without exception, those doubts were unfounded. You’d be surprised how talented you truly are!

Your Singing Voice Is Your Inner Self

The idea of "having no voice" is a myth. If you can speak, you have a voice, which means you can hold notes and produce sound at different pitches (higher or lower) — and that’s essentially singing! To learn how to produce clean, beautiful sounds, all you need to do is develop the muscles of the vocal apparatus in the right way, focusing on relaxation and freedom, not tension, fear, or force. Everyone has a singing voice! And that’s exactly what Olga set out to prove.

The History of Olga’s Teaching

Olga Zhizherina began her teaching career in the late 1990s. On the recommendation of colleagues from the music field, children from music schools and adults preparing for vocal competitions started coming to her for lessons. Some wanted to improve their vocal technique, while for others, singing was a beloved hobby. Students shared their successes, and Olga Zhizherina’s reputation as a vocal teacher grew throughout Kyrgyzstan. Alongside private lessons, Olga has been teaching at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) since 2000, and in recent years, she has led vocal courses at the "Muza" creative studio for both children and adults. In 2017, she officially opened her own vocal school, founded on her unique teaching methodology.
